Born in Freiburg, Germany, Fabian Wendt studied jazz and popular music at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst Stuttgart (diploma 2000), followed by postgraduate artistic studies and a scholarship from the Kunststiftung Baden Württemberg (2003).
Fabian Wendt knows how to use the electric bass and his other instruments skillfully and tastefully in a variety of different musical styles.
Even though the bass usually functions as a supporting ensemble instrument in music, Fabian Wendt always manages to remain unmistakable with his personal "voice" in a subtle and extremely musical way.
Since 2008 he has been touring regularly with the German singer-songwriter Philipp Poisel through Germany, Austria and Switzerland and is also in demand as a studio and live musician for various other artists, such as Max & Laura Braun, Marie Louise, Christian Langer and Nasim Kholti.
He lives out his creative vein in particular together with the Peruvian singer and percussionist Débora Vilchez in their joint band Mágica Fe, in which he is active as composer, arranger as well as guitarist, bassist and bandleader.
As a freelance orchestral musician at Stage-Apollo and Stage-Palladium Theater,he has successfully accompanied a variety of diverse musical productions since 2001 (e.g. Mamma Mia, Dance of the Vampires, Tarzan, Mary Poppins, Aladdin), demonstrating his skills as a jazz, rock and pop musician as well as a classical double bass player.
Since 2019 he has been a member of the band Perigon, with whom he will release the album "Crushed Pearls" in 2022, which is very much influenced by his playing on the Chapman Stick.
In 2020, together with drummer and mastering engineer Gabriel Schütz, he founded the progressive rock duo Broken Window Syndrome, where he completely left the classical field of activity as an accompanying musician step out and freely develop his skills as a virtuoso soloist and as a composer.
